Jordan and Jerry met in 2020, when Jordan asked Jerry to help build a sex education program for Safe Space NOVA. Jerry led those trainings for years, and the two became friends: social workers with the same clinical lens and the same lived experience as Black gay men.
People kept commenting on their chemistry and how candidly they could talk about relationships, sexuality, and clinical issues. The podcast was the natural next step: a way to take the conversations they were already having beyond the therapy room.
"As therapists, there are only so many people we can sit across from in a day." The Couch is their answer to that. Candid, funny, educational, sometimes uncomfortable, and always making room for the conversations that don't get enough attention, particularly in Black and queer communities.
On and off the couch
We want them to leave feeling a little more informed, a little less ashamed, and a lot more comfortable having the conversations we've been told not to have.
