Jordan L. Costen, LCSW
Psychotherapist, mental health advocate, entrepreneur, and co-host
Founder and Clinical Director of Affirmative Therapy of Northern Virginia, and Founder and Vice Chair of Safe Space NOVA.
Jordan L. Costen is a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for mental health and LGBTQ+ communities. A proud Black gay man and Atlanta native, Jordan brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, lived experience, humor, and authenticity to The Queer and Kinky Couch. As the Founder and Clinical Director of Affirmative Therapy of Northern Virginia, Inc., he specializes in helping individuals and couples navigate relationships, identity, anxiety, trauma, and personal growth. His approach is rooted in the belief that meaningful change begins with self-awareness, honest conversations, and the freedom to show up as one's authentic self.
Beyond the therapy room, Jordan has dedicated much of his career to creating spaces where marginalized communities feel seen, heard, and empowered. He is the Founder and Vice Chair of Safe Space NOVA, a nonprofit organization supporting LGBTQ+ youth, and has been recognized for his leadership and community advocacy, including being named a Washington Business Journal LGBTQ Business Leader and receiving the NASW Virginia Public Citizen of the Year Award. With academic backgrounds in television production, public communications, and clinical social work, Jordan combines storytelling, education, and mental health advocacy to make complex conversations accessible, relatable, and engaging.
As co-host of The Queer and Kinky Couch, Jordan brings his clinical perspective, personal experiences, and unapologetic curiosity to conversations about dating, sex, relationships, mental health, and the beautifully complicated realities of being human. He believes that growth does not require perfection, relationships are not one-size-fits-all, and sometimes the most meaningful breakthroughs begin with a little laughter and an uncomfortable truth. Whether challenging conventional thinking, sharing lessons from his own journey, or encouraging listeners to rethink what they believe they deserve, Jordan's goal is simple: to help people build healthier relationships with themselves and others one conversation at a time.
